Equine Ophthalmology
The horse's eye is fascinating because of its size. This results in large areas without a blood supply. Natural healing processes are therefore very important for the cornea. Invasive procedures are often necessary, especially inside the eye. These require a lot of equipment.

Dr. med. vet. Stefan Gesell-May
Specialist veterinarian for horses & equine surgery
I primarily perform all types of eye surgery on horses. Depending on the case, this is done in a clinic near you or at your stable. I specialize in operations on the inside of the eye in particular. However, the aim is always to prefer conservative or gentler methods through conscientious diagnostics. I am also happy to advise veterinarians and horse owners nationwide.

Providing care
at partner clinics
& home stables
If your horse has an eye problem, we will work with you to decide quickly and effectively on the best course of action. Many examinations and minor procedures can be carried out at your home stable without causing your horse any additional stress. Should more extensive diagnostics or close monitoring be required, these will be carried out in collaboration with one of our partner clinics.
To assess new cases quickly and effectively, we operate entirely digitally – our portal enables you, amongst other things, to register patients in an organised manner, including uploading images and sending a message to our practice.
Even after treatment, you can send us information from your own practice at any time to help us assess the patient’s current eye health.
